Book Review: Where I Belong

When you accept your darkness, it doesn’t consume you. It becomes you.

My darkness has been a part of me forever. I tried to run from it, but overtime, I eventually gave up.

Briar isn’t just my tormentor, she is my darkness. But she is also my equal in every way. And I welcomed her, my shadow.

This is where I belong.

My Review
I liked this novella. It is a quick read. I like the sapphic element of this story. It was a mix between paranormal/horror. Do want to warn through that this story does touch on depression and self-harm. So be careful of your mental health.

Ophelia and Briar are intertwined with one another. Briar is edging Ophelia to let out the darkness. She wants Ophelia. Every time that Briar is not near, Ophelia feels a part of herself missing. As the story progressed, it did get darker.

The ending was actually the highlight of the story. I wished that it would have actually been in the middle as I would have liked to see how the relationship with Ophelia/Briar changed with this reveal. Yet, ending the story the way it did and just allowing me to think about what could be is good as well. I just wished this could have been more.
