Book Review: When Fences Fall
A naked midnight ritual sparks a slow-burn romance between a guarded contractor and a curvy diner owner, unraveling their secrets.
Jericho
I moved to Big Love for solitude and sawdust, not a fiery neighbor catching me off-guard in my backyard. Nora’s chaos—late-night antics, bold laughs—drives me up the wall, yet her spark lights something I swore I’d buried. When her ex threatens her, I’m ready to protect what’s mine, roosters and all.
Nora
Coming back to my hometown wasn’t my first choice. But running my diner and ignoring my problems was working just fine… until Jericho moved in next door.
He’s grumpy, guarded, and way too hot for his own good. Teasing him is fun—until the sparks between us turn into something I can’t ignore. When my past catches up with me, Jericho shows me there’s more to him than scowls and big tool belts.

Author’s When Fences Fall is a contemporary, small-town standalone featuring a grumpy contractor with secrets and a small town plus-size diner owner who found themselves as new neighbors in this story with dark and LOL elements. If you like opposites attract, grumpy & sunshine, plus size FMC, possessive heroes, small-town shenanigans, and crazy roosters, this book is for you.

Second this is a complete standalone. However, Jericho makes an appearance in Hidden Fears, Little Hope series as a side-character. Other Little Hope characters will appear in this series as well.
My Review
Nora and Jericho have quite the first meeting as neighbors. It made such an impact on Jericho that Nora earned the nickname "Witch". Nora and Jericho definitely shared a grumpy/sunshine relationship in the beginning. The slow burn romance between these two was great. It made the first kiss and the next ones after that even better.
The trauma that these two endured comes out. By sharing their truths, they were able to let go of the past and look forward to the future with each other.
All of the cast of characters are awesome. That is one of the things I love about Ariana's books. It is not just about the main characters but all of them. None are side characters even the "demon rooster". Love Nora's sister, Cheryl, the cop and Grandma Moon.
OMG. Everything that came out of Cheryl's mouth was a hoot. The way she reacted and the things she said it everything that I would do and say. We truly are one in the same. Example: A woman got her car stuck in a ditch and Cheryl's reaction was "I was tired, and she was stupid." Bahaha.
Little Hope will always have a special place in my heart but this new series I know it will also become special as well. I "ship" Jericho and Nora. Thank you, Ariana, for naming Cheryl after me. It is like you wrote my spirt character in Cheryl. Old and new readers both will absolutely LOVE this book! It is one that you are going to do a re-read of over and over again.
