Book Review: Vacationing with the Vampire in Hallow's Cove

Image
After making a big mistake at work, Maisie is told to take a mandatory vacation and get her head on straight. But when she chooses Hallow’s Cove as her retreat destination, she doesn’t realize it’s a town inhabited almost purely by monsters—including her grumpy new landlord, Barnaby. It’s no secret that Barnaby the bookstore owner is a vampire, but he’s long since tamed his urge to drink human blood. That is, until Maisie arrives in Hallow’s Cove. Her blood smells utterly wonderful, and Barnaby finds himself drawn to her scent just as much as he is to her genuine, curious personality. But Barnaby fears his attraction, too, because he carries a inside every vampire is a monster, one that’s never been seen or written about. The closer he gets to Maisie, the higher the risk that it could escape containment. When sparks fly between them, will the hidden creature emerge and ruin his chance at love? My Review I really enjoyed this newest book from Lyonne. I like that it was a slow burn...

Book Review: Slaying the Holidays

Image
When I said "get a new hobby," I meant kayaking, not decking the halls with garlands of gore. My newest therapy client is the definition of a DILF. His distractingly handsome face is all to blame for my mess up. If that wasn’t bad enough, now I’m practically stalking the murderous golden retriever. Can he even hear me arguing for pottery classes over the electric carver? Oh, it's a bone saw?  My mistake. Merry Christmas!  I’m getting myself an accessory to murder. ★★★ After a helpful talk with my beautiful divorce therapist, I decided to get into manslaughter. Maybe it's not the hobby she had in mind, but the idea always interested me, and there's plenty of predators I’d love to turn into  prey . And what do you know? My therapist was right. I  do  feel better! She seems a little ethically confused and personally concerned. She’s even cuter grumpy and exasperated. We’d make the perfect couple if she’d stop threatening to call the FBI. My Review Who doesn'...

Book Review: Better Watch Out

I’m supposed to be suffering through Christmas with my dad. Not stuck in our family lodge with my worst nightmares at the door. I was promised they’d be too busy to come to the cabin this year, but someone broke that promise. Now they’re here, standing at my door, intent on making sure I never forget why I left. What should have been an uneasy Christmas with my dad and stepmom spirals into a game of cat and mouse, as Fletcher and Boone remind me exactly why I fled. Book Review: Hunted for Christmas

Image
“Santa be my good little reindeer, darling, and run.” The pine trees are dusted in sparkling snow, a stark contrast against the pitch-black night drenching the mountainside. Snow swirls around the cabins nestled cozily along a winding, private road, covering everything with its billowy, soft embrace. Each flake concealing my deep, dark holiday tradition. She was never part of my plan, and yet she has always remained an object of my obsession. A link to my past, the only remaining thread of my humanity. When Hazel’s uncle left her his mountainside vacation home in his will, I knew adding one tiny stipulation would deliver her to my doorstep—and right into my dangerous arms. A weekend alone to establish residency seems like a reasonable request. Will my sweet temptation become my next victim, or does she have what it takes to love someone like me? This year, Hazel will be hunted for Christmas. My Review Looking for a quick book to read, then check out this novella. If you like your...
