Smoke Screen

I do not have this book but the few I have read by Sandra Brown have been good.

Just when you think Sandra Brown couldn’t possibly get any better, the bestselling author pulls out all the stops! Filled with pulse-pounding suspense and sexual tension, Smoke Screen is a thriller you won’t stop reading until the last mind-blowing page. The death of police detective and hero Jay Burgess is big news in Charleston, especially since Britt Shelley was in his bed when he expired. That the gorgeous TV reporter insists she has no recollection of how she got there doesn’t impress the cops—or her boss, who puts Britt on indefinite leave. Then, just when she thinks things couldn’t get any worse, she’s kidnapped!

Britt recognizes her abductor as Raley Gannon, Jay’s best friend, who was a hotshot fireman before his stellar career was ruined in an incident similar to hers; in his case the corpse was a woman he met at one of Jay’s notorious parties. He was found innocent of any wrongdoing, despite Britt’s accusatory broadcasts. But Raley isn’t seeking vengeance. He thinks they were both set up and he wants Britt, who he finds infuriatingly attractive, to help him cut through a dangerous smoke screen of lies, betrayal—and murder—to find out why.

Oh yeah, this is her latest book. I have a hold place on it at the library. It's in the processing stage right now.
