Let's Learn About Chemistry

Image
Let's Learn about Chemistry is a board book for children ages 0+. The goal of the book is to introduce science language early, with fun everyday examples. With an interactive storyline asking, Which of these things is not like the other? children are introduced to chemistry concepts. The illustrations show four children playing with their favorite toys. They take turns guessing and explaining throughout the book. It is a colorful, engaging, and educational way to read about science!  Stephanie Ryan founded Ryan Education Consulting LLC in 2016. She earned her Ph.D. in Learning Sciences with a focus on Chemistry Education. Let’s Learn About Chemistry is her first children’s book.  My Review I found this picture book to be very educational. Author, Stephanie Ryan does a great job of getting children excited about chemistry and science. The things that are featured in this book about chemistry will make some children grow up to be scientists. Yet, even though th

a loving family. Up until the day Sebastian is taken. A year later, Marin is a shadow of herself. The FBI search has gone cold. The publicity has faded. She and her husband rarely speak. She also knows he's rich, and dating him comes with perks: help with bills, trips away, expensive gifts. He isn't her first rich boyfriend, but she finds herself hoping he'll be the last. The Sweeney Sisters

Image
Maggie, Liza, and Tricia Sweeney grew up as a happy threesome in the idyllic seaside town of Southport, Connecticut. But their mother’s death from cancer fifteen years ago tarnished their golden-hued memories, and the sisters drifted apart. Their one touchstone is their father, Bill Sweeney, an internationally famous literary lion and college professor universally adored by critics, publishers, and book lovers. When Bill dies unexpectedly one cool June night, his shell-shocked daughters return to their childhood home. They aren’t quite sure what the future holds without their larger-than-life father, but they do know how to throw an Irish wake to honor a man of his stature. But as guests pay their respects and reminisce, one stranger, emboldened by whiskey, has crashed the party. It turns out that she too is a Sweeney sister. When Washington, DC based journalist Serena Tucker had her DNA tested on a whim a few weeks earlier, she learned she had a 50% genetic match with a childho

Show Me the Honey

A lighthearted, self-deprecating account of one fledgling beekeeper’s misadventures. With wit and warning in equal measure, this informative, refreshingly honest narrative will resonate with any new beekeeper. When Dave Doroghy's sister gave him 15,000 honey bees as a Christmas gift, his practical knowledge of beekeeping would have fit on the proverbial backend of an Apis mellifera. He spent the next two years learning everything he needed to know to keep that beehive alive and well he attended a beekeeping conference, joined a bee club, and even went to bee school. But bad things still happened—he sustained multiple stings, wasps attacked his hive, he fought an ongoing battle with killer varroa mites, and even lost his queen twice! In Show Me the Honey Doroghy recounts his often tension-filled misadventures in beekeeping with self-deprecating humour and lightheartedness. Whether it's the impending chaos of transferring tens of thousands of insects to an outyard, the h
