Bloodmark + Giveaway

Sixteen-year-old werewolf princess Ashling Boru is different from other wolves—she was able to shift to wolf form at birth. Rather than bringing pride to her family, it brings fear, and as a result, she is forced to live in seclusion in Ireland’s countryside. Ashling’s reputation is further blackened when she refuses her betrothed and defies the ancient laws. When her pack’s oldest rivals begin hunting her, she finds herself in the small town of York Harbor, Maine—far from everything she’s ever known.

In Maine, she crosses paths with the dark and rebellious Grey Donavan, and something ignites within her soul. There’s just one problem: Grey is human. Their instant connection turns into a passionate romance, and Ashling begins to believe she can create her own life outside of wolf laws. When she begins to uncover long-buried pack secrets—secrets that threaten to destroy all she holds dear—Ashling’s courage and tenacity are tested. Will she choose her deep and enduring love for Grey, or will she follow Old Mother’s path to her destiny?

My Review

I have never heard of this series. If I had not had the chance to try this series out I would still be going through life not knowing what great bliss I was greatly missing. Instantly, I fell in love with this story as well as Ashling and Grey. They make a great couple. I could feel the strong "soul" connection that these two shared with each other. Thus the reason that it was so easy to accept that Ashling feel hard and so quickly for Grey. Another aspect of this book that I really enjoyed is the werewolf. The wolves were not horror story corny but actually believable as real wolves. Ashling is starting to grow within herself and find her strength. I can't wait to see how much she progresses in the next book. I literally had to make myself put this book down to get some sleep. A recommended read!

The healing touch of writing by Aurora Whittet
I started writing the Bloodmark Saga when my mom was diagnosed with cancer for a second time, because I realized if there was something I wanted to do with my life, I needed to do it today, for tomorrow wasn’t promised. I began writing the first book and found myself often lost in the words, almost as though I was running with the pack. I realized I needed the world of Bloodmark. It was my place to hide, to feel, to explore, to find a friend and sometimes to avoid reality.

I went to appointment after appointment with my mom for injection after injection. Cancer is dark and death can be scary. Reality can sometimes be too much to even continue crawling your way through the mud of life. Sometimes you just have to sit down in the mud and cry. And writing did that for me, it helped me cope with an incurable disease that festered in my mom. So I wrote nearly every day just to survive my own fears.

I realized after my mom died that while I had been writing, I put her in my novel. Maybe I knew it all along, but I admitted it then. I had hidden her in my written words, where I could keep her alive forever. Writing pulls to your soul and lets out your pain, blossoms your joy and helps you find peace in yourself. It is therapeutic whether you are writing a personal journal, a memoir or even a fiction novel. They all have the power to help you find yourself.
