Book Review: Over My Dead Body

From Bex Deveau and L.E. Eldridge comes a masked omegaverse where the games go from online to IRL—masked men and all. Welcome to the Streamerverse. See you in chat.

An omega destined to be packless…

Heartbreak after heartbreak has left me realizing I’m not cut out for a pack. As much as I’ve wished for one, it’s obviously not in the cards. It’s time to leave behind wishes in favor of dreams, and I have a big one—Opening my very own game studio.

But even as one of the highest-ranked Kxll Flxxr streamers, and my recent success on SLCK’d, a camming service explicitly for omegas, it was nearly impossible to scrounge together more than pennies between student loans and increasing rent.

What do you do when you receive an offer you can’t refuse?

When the pack I hooked up with at the Omega’s Lust Halloween Trick or Treat Packtacular offered me more than enough seed money to design the game of my dreams, no strings attached, it seemed too good to be true.

The catch?

They want me to have their pack’s baby.

It seems like an unbelievable offer, but what’s nine months in exchange for my dream? Just one little signature, and it could all be mine.

But when the lines between play and pack get blurred, and I let myself get attached, how far am I willing to go to keep a pack that’s already found their omega?

Just sign your name on the dotted line.

OVer My Dead Body is a HIGH heat, MNBIMMF contemporary omegaverse packed with masked alphas, accidental mating bites, and a contract that will change their lives. This book is a standalone, with no cheesy cheating, no choosing, and an HEA! Can’t wait? Players can start their journey a little early in Dead 2 Me, the prequel novella that’s just waiting for you to squad up!

My Review

Joon, Cameo, Marcus, Indigo, and Eva all become a pack. For Joon and Eva, they found their family. Joon did not want to bond but she slowly came around later. She just does not like it when people assume what she is thinking or going to say vs. letting her have her own voice.

I laughed in the beginning where Marcus and Joon were having a conversation about bonding and babies and Marcus pissed Joon off. As an act of defiance, she rearranged all of the knives on the magnetic knife shelf and leaving behind fingerprints on all of the handles.

"Cameo was a pretty traditional guy despite his unusual hobbies and B-horror-movie-villain personality"

At first, it felt like it was Eva and Indigo vs. Joon, Marcus, and Cameo. After a while, the dynamics did start changing and the group formed bonds with each other. I liked Marcus's nickname for Eva "Final Girl". She is a gamer for a horror game, so the nickname is fitting.

"So this is what it meant to be a pack, have a family."

I was drawn to this book first by the eye-catching cover and then next by the gamer aspect. As a gamer myself, I enjoy reading about books where the FMC is a big gamer. There was a really good storyline for this book and not just about the spice. The characters experienced emotions. This allowed me to get to know them better and connection with them. I really enjoyed this pack of misfits. I do mean this in the best way.
