Book Review: Abyss

There are many reasons I should have handed in my resignation the day I met my new boss, Hudson Case. First off, he’s the reason I lost my first waitressing job. Secondly, he’s gruff, grumpy, and another inconvenient g-word . . .  gorgeous . And to top it off,  he’s my good friend’s dad. Oh, and did I mention,  he’s also my new roommate ? Yeah, we’ll get to that in a sec. It all started when I begged my friend to get me a temp position working as her dad’s admin until my big move at the end of summer. Little did I know, her dad was the same jerk who callously fired me from my previous waitressing gig. He says I’m a walking migraine and a thorn in his side. So when I threaten to quit, why does his counteroffer include me moving in with him for  business reasons ? But before we know it, we’re mixing business with pleasure. A lot of pleasure. Suddenly nothing feels temporary anymore. But it has to be, right?  Because one way or another, our time together is ...

Book Review: Shifted

Image
There’s a carnival in Layol filled with magic. It travels every night with some of the worst creatures imaginable. Ever since the war started these creatures have been hunted for crimes they didn’t commit. Owen wants to forget that things will never be as they were before the war. He’s pretty skilled at finding things to distract him or finding someone for that matter. It was easy enough. Then Asher and Shara had to show up and mess everything up. Just when he thought he was close to getting Asher from his mind and going back to being the careless Casanova they all took him for, Shara slams into his life running from something. He had chosen an easy, vapid life. He wasn’t supposed to want, especially not both of them. If life taught him anything, you can’t always have what you want, and life has always forced him to choose. With darkness wrapping the carnival and hunters around every corner, his choices might very well cost him his life or theirs. My Review This book instantly su...

Book Review: Mei's Mermaid Mission

Image
Synopsis: Princess Hwangok has tasked Mei to embark on a mission to gather the MIRA mermaids from the Asia Pacific region. They will need to unite in order to halt the pirate from polluting. Will MIRA be able to stop the pirate and save the day? The mission of the Mermaids International Rescue Alliance (MIRA) is to guard the ocean and to protect sea creatures. There are many mermaid members in MIRA from all over Asia, such as Princess Hwangok (Korea), Roro (Indonesia), Jiao (China), Ningyo (Japan), Songkhla (Thailand), Duyung (Malaysia), Sovann Macha (Cambodia), Sirena (the Philippines), and Mei (Taiwan). My Review I have read several books by Crystal and enjoy them all. What I really loved about this book besides it being a pretty easy read for young readers, is the fact that it has a good message as well. It encourages readers the importance of helping to protect the environment for all sea animals. Pollution is bad and destroys animals' homes.  This book also features a d...

Book Review: Why Cheese?

Image
Rock-hard men in the sheets, delectable cheese in the streets. Violette Reely walks into her great uncle’s abandoned cheese shop then promptly runs back out. You would too if you discovered a secret basement hiding beneath a trapdoor. One second, there’s nothing down there but cheese wheels in an old chest, the next four naked men are chasing her out the door. Refusing to give up the million-dollar property to her wild imagination, Violette returns the next day. Despite the place being ransacked, she’s certain she made up those mysterious men who vanished inside a locked store. Then, as the sun sets, cheeses lying on piles of discarded clothing roll across the floor until they poof into the four men from last night. Men who transform into cheese. What the hell? Stoic and domineering, Roq’s the de facto leader keeping everyone in line. Everyone that is but Cam, the charming playboy whose smooth lines melt the hardest rinds. Cheddy is a tall hunk of joy, as easy to like as his name...
