Book Review: She's Up to No Good

For two women generations apart, going home will change their lives in this funny, poignant, and life-affirming novel about family, secrets, and broken hearts by the author of For the Love of Friends. Four years into her marriage, Jenna is blindsided when her husband asks for a divorce. With time on her hands and her life in flux, she agrees to accompany her eccentric grandmother Evelyn on a road trip to the seaside Massachusetts town where much of their family history was shaped. When they hit the road, Evelyn spins the tale of the star-crossed teenage romance that captured her heart more than seventy years ago and changed the course of her life. She insists the return to her hometown isn’t about that at all—no matter how much she talks about Tony, her unforgettable and forbidden first love. Book Review: Losing Neverland

Image
All is not as it seems in Neverland. As for Peter & Hook, well I know the secret most don’t. The real truth behind the myth. The hidden wonder you’ve never known disguised as the notorious legend. I know the nightmare that brings Hook to his knees. The concealed facts which bring out nothing but his ruthless darkness. I know the inescapable reality that one day changed Peter Pan forever. I witnessed Peter’s inevitable fall from grace. His loss of innocence. A destiny he one day couldn’t fly away from. All you’ve ever been told is a lie. A hoax. A pixie trick. I know the truth because - I’m their ruin. I’m their demise. I’m the end of what was & the beginning of what’s to come. My name is Wendy Moria Angela Darling. And I’m the inescapable fate they couldn’t defeat. The chosen one who inevitably forces their surrender. I’m the reason for losing Neverland. My Review I have read many books by Evelyn. Thus, I knew she can write but this newest book is next level! I have read ...

Book Review: Pretty White Lies

Image
Love was the sensation that set me free. It was in those stolen moments and forbidden touches I found who I belonged to. Held in your arms, I finally saw what forever could look like, and when I sank into your kiss, heaven revealed itself to me. Your love was my elixir, my muse. It gave me life, and I offered it to you freely, and you took it without remorse. You let it feed you, and in return, you woke something inside me. Or maybe you simply made me aware of what lingered there all along, hiding underneath sweet, pretty smiles. I love you, and I know you love me, but what is love but chaos set loose? And can we really call it that if no one gets hurt? My Review Holy Cow! That is my first thought after reading this book. Pretty White Lies is one heck of a scorching, amazing read! Once I started reading, I could not stop. In fact, I finished this book in one evening.  Readers who have had fantasy dreams about teacher/student. than this book will hit that spot for you.  ...

Book Review: Guilty Minds

Image
“I want to get you out of my head the only way I know how.” The only thing Kayla’s ever wanted has been to get the hell out of Little Hope. She’s never fit in with the traditionalism of the small town and its judgmental citizens, and her family’s bad reputation continues to precede her. All she’s ever wanted has been to leave… and maybe— just maybe —for Justin Attleborough to notice her. But—unfortunately for her—the only time he ever acknowledges her is to call her trailer trash and never let her forget her status as the town pariah. All Justin wants is to wipe  that night  from his memory. The night that changed so many lives. But that’s easier said than done, especially when one of the biggest reminders of  that night  is always shamelessly walking her leather-clad legs around Little Hope. But—unfortunately for him—the one thing he wants more than to erase it from his mind is her. A seemingly good boy and a seemingly bad girl. What do they have in common? W...

Book Review: Changing the Game

Image
In high school, I was the nerdy guy. The nice guy. The chubby guy. I didn't know crap about athletics or girls. But I had my eye on Lidia Hightower. She was kind and smart and beautiful. And with the wrong guy. Nothing I could do about it since she'd never look at a guy like me. Even after I saved her from a grave mistake. Years later with my transfer to Thackeray College comes a second chance I never thought I'd have when Lidia's here, too. Well this time I'm not going to blow it. In high school, I was the popular girl. The society girl. The one who had it all. I even dated the wrong guy because it presented a better image. But I was done with that. I was over doing what was expected and ready to do what I wanted. Who would have thought what I wanted was Cooper Stevens, the sweet boy who championed me when my friends abandoned me? The cute high school boy who grew into a fine college man but probably wouldn't look twice at me now. Only one way to find out... ...

Book Review: The Shell and the Octopus

Image
This is the story of Rebecca Stirling’s childhood: a young girl raised by the sea, by men, and by literature. Circumnavigating the world on a thirty-foot sailboat, the Stirlings spend weeks at a time on the open ocean, surviving storms and visiting uncharted islands and villages. Ushered through her young life by a father who loves adventure, women, and extremes, Rebecca befriends “working girls” in the ports they visit (as they are often the only other females present in the bars that they end up in) and, on the boat, falls in love with her crewmate and learns to live like the men around her. But her driven nature and the role models in the books she reads make her determined to be a lady, continue her education, begin a career, live in a real home, and begin a family of her own. Once she finally gets away from the boat and her dad and sets to work upon making her own dream a reality, however, Rebecca begins to realize life is not what she thought it would be—and when her father...

Book Review: Possession

Image
They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I’m learning that lesson the hard way. My name’s Aubry Brooks, and here’s the thing—I’ve got myself a little possession problem. Yes, I lead a séance I had no business leading in the first place. No, I’m not a channeler of spirit, but let me explain. I was only trying to help a mother find her missing daughter, and then a cocky half-incubus had the nerve to possess me! You’d think a clairvoyant kitchen witch would have seen this coming. No need to panic. I can figure out a way to exorcise Damion Blackmon, assuming I can withstand his seduction in the meantime. Oh, and he’s agreed to help me find out who killed my best friend. Deals with devils. I'm not sure if it's my soul or my heart that's at risk. But don’t worry, my grandma was a voyeur in a past life and she'll catch you up to speed. In extremely graphic detail. A word of warning—do not let my aunt talk you into a juice cleanse. Nothing magic about that, I ...

Book Review: Big Bad Wolfe

Image
We're on tour with Big Bad Wolfe by Susana Mohel! Download your copy of Big Bad Wolfe by Susana Wolfe today! About Big Bad Wolfe The forest was off limits. That’s what I’d been told. But that made me want to go. I ignored all the warnings and to the mountain I went. And then I found out why I should have listened. Because I found him. He wasn’t a man, he was a beast. He wasn’t strong, he was strength itself. He wasn’t the Big Bad Wolf. He was my Big Bad Love. Big Bad Wolfe is a Little Red Riding Hood re-telling, with a strong heroine, a naughty alpha-hole, and just the right amount of primal kink that will heat you up and make you howl at the moon. My Review Wow. I absolutely loved this spicy retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. Red is not a little girl, and the "big, bad wolf" is the good guy. If you are looking for a tasty morsel of a read, then you have to pick up a copy of this book for yourself. Don't underestimate a novella. They...

Book Tour Review: All the Girls in Town

Image
THREE SMART, SEXY – AND SLIGHTLY SCREWED-UP – WOMEN JOIN FORCES TO WREAK VENGEANCE ON THE RISING ROCK STAR WHO HURT THEM ALL. Dani, Red, and Sasha have absolutely nothing in common, except the trail of tears bad boy rocker Peter left in his wake. That is, until Dani starts a blog about killing her ex and unwittingly sets the wheels in motion for the women’s paths to collide. Bonding over past and present wounds, self-realizations transform the three heroines in a trifecta of twelve-step new age therapy that only L.A. can provide. In a city where discarded muses are a dime a dozen, All the Girls in Town explores the cost of loving the wrong person and the true power of friendship in reclaiming the self. My Review When you pick up a book you always hope that it will be a good read. It is a bonus when the story makes you laugh and have an enjoyable time. I am happy to report that is exactly what happened to me reading All the Girls in Town by Staci Greason.  Dani, Red and Sasha...
