Book Review: The Temptation of Roan Island

On a mysterious island, at an opulent estate, four ill women from the New Essik Sanatorium fight for their only chance to live—get one of the Roan siblings to fall in love with them. But Pippa won’t play their games. She knows love is a lie. All she wants is to provide a better future for her son.

She’ll do anything for her boy, even pretend to be in love with Shemaiah Roan when he asks her to dissuade the other women’s unwanted pursuit. It may start out as a fake arrangement, but when they have to venture beyond Roan Island to find Pippa’s son, their attraction becomes a genuine temptation they can’t deny.

Their search leads them back to The New Essik Sanatorium, where they discover nefarious forces at work. Forces who want Pippa and her boy and will do anything to keep them.

The Temptation of Roan Island is book two in The Roan Island Series, but can be read as a standalone. It’s a gothic steampunk fantasy about hope and desire, and is intended for an 18+ audience.

My Review
I did not realize just how much I was craving revisiting Roan Island until I started reading this book. The first book was really good but this book, edged it out. As soon as I started reading, it was like a movie playing in my head. I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS BOOK!!

Shemaiah is a tortured soul. I really felt for him. He came off broodish, which I actually found very alluring and attracted me to him. Pippa is so quiet. She is like a church mouse. Yet, the way that Shemaiah is drawn to Pippa is endearing. I have just one word...Lemongrass. You will just have to read this book to understand what I mean by this.

The story picks up steam in the last third of the story. I was locked in. Thea and Maci pens a gorgeous, gothic, love story with this book.
