Book Review: Don't Look Back

Welcome to Lull Lane. May I interest you in a lullaby?

Row row row the boat.
My poisons in your veins.
The forest awaits; you’re a disgrace.
There is no escape.

Row row row the boat.
Across familiar sea.
The killing grounds await us now.
There is no escape.

Run, run, run from me.
I’ll hunt you from the trees..
Knives & spears will make you bleed.
You’ll be sure to scream.

Run, run, run from me.
I’ll hunt you from the trees.
Acid and fire will drench your attire.
You’ll be sure to scream.

Avery
The men in this town have taken everything from me.... and I'm not the only one. When my birthday comes, and the last thread of my sanity snaps, my old dolly starts whispering things to me... and she has some very fun ideas on how to punish those who have wronged me. With her cruel and wicked words consuming me a little more each day, I decide to take my mom's old boat - the only piece of her I have left - and plot our revenge.

They will all get what is coming to them, even if I have to hunt them down one by one. Starting with the one who laid hands on the love of my life. Allie may not know it yet - but she is
mine.

Allie
I may not know who the beautiful blonde is that came to my rescue, but I certainly intend to find out. She is brave, outspoken, and
real. Which is hard to find in a snobby town like Warren, Connecticut. Here, wealth and public appearances are all that matter. Women are nothing more than trophies to be admired, then used. I never did fit in... and I'm starting to wonder if the strange feelings my new admirer sparks might just be why.

People say she is a sociopath, but I think she is brilliant.

--> Don't Look Back is a part of theNightmares On Lull Lane series. Each author in this series has written their own book; however, they will tie into each other and continue one main storyline. While it is not mandatory, I highly recommend you read them in order.

**** This book is a sapphic romance with some very dark themes. Please read the trigger warnings before diving in. As always, you and your mental health matter!

My Review

Avery was loved by her mother. Her father is another story. He is mean to her. Allie is a protector of Avery. She is not one you want to mess with but add in Edith and you get a powerful combo.

In this book, we get to see a bit more into how Avery's connection with Savannah and the dolls is connected. Unlike the other previous books, where the children learn later about just what their dolls are all about, in this book Avery learns the truth not from the doll.

I do like this novella and that it was sapphic is nice. It felt nicely into this shared world. I do enjoy an FF romance.
