New "It" Author in Hollywood...Tish Cohen

When Delilah Blue Lovett was a little girl, she asked her father why her mother wasn’t coming with them to California? Her father told her that Delilah’s mother no longer wanted to be a part of their family. Delilah was satisfied for the moment but she always wanted to someday confront her mother about walking out of her and her father.

Delilah is an adult now and wonders what ever happened to her mother. Delilah decides to seek her mother out to learn the truth before it is too late. Delilah has the early stages of Alzheimer’s. What Delilah learns about the truth regarding her mother and the life she lived will shock her.

One of my friends asked me recently if I had read any good books lately and the first book that came to my mind was The Truth about Delilah Blue. I didn’t have to think twice about this book. This is because the characters were real people and not just characters in a book. I felt for Delilah, her mother and father and the turmoil they all went through. They showed lots of emotion. This book will draw you in right from the beginning. If you have never read Tish Cohen before then you are in for a real treat. The Truth about Delilah Blue is that this book is a winner!

Broken by Karin Slaughter

Grant County Officer Lena Adams is called to the scene down at the lake. A young woman has been found in the lake. The girl’s throat was slashed. Lena and her partner, Frank Wallace follow up on a lead. There lead take them to the house of Mr. Braham. Inside the house they find a man wearing a ski mask and holding a knife. The man is Tommy Braham. The police arrest Tommy.

Dr. Sara Linton has returned to Grant County after a long extended absence. Tommy is a patient of Sara’s. When Sara learns that Tommy is the main suspect in the murder investigation, she asks FBI Special Agent Will Trent to prove Tommy’s innocence. Will quickly finds himself in the middle of Sara and Lena. Which one can he really trust?

Broken is book eight in the Grand Country series. It has been a while since I have read a Karin Slaughter book. I thought this book was nice re-introduction to this series, though this book wasn’t quite a slam dunk for me. I mean it was nice to revisit with Will Trent as I like him as a character. I remembered Sara but could not remember what had transpired between her and Lena. Luckily, Ms. Slaughter brought back the details. The only reason that I didn’t give this book a five star rating is because I felt that the level of suspense did not stay consistently strong all the way through out the story line. Broken could be fixed. Planning on checking into the next book.

A Disagreement in Idaho Holt E. Glenn's timely new action and adventure novel may turn out to be the definitive work on illegal immigration as it dramatically explores the consequences of continuing to ignore our immigration laws.

Winnabow, NC - July 29, 2010 - Author Holt E. Glenn announces the release of his new fiction work, A Disagreement in Idaho. Glenn's novel explores what would happen if tne state, frustrated with the federal government's refusal to do anything about the local incursion of illegal immigrants, took matters into its own hands.

A Disagreement in Idaho is set in the beautiful and rugged lands of Idaho in the style of a grand western novel, but political intrigue weaves contemporary themes into the actions of Governor Seabon Wilson, whose state is overrun by illegal immigrants. He does not want to do battle with federal authorities, but he finally decides he can no longer stand idly by.

He proposes legislation that will deny illegal immigrants all social and medical services and educational opportunities. Employers who hire illegal aliens face stiff fines. The governor then suddenly finds himself in direct conflict with federal policies.

The situation in Idaho begins to spiral out of control and the governor and his wife now find their lives affected in ways they had not been able to imagine. The President of the United States is forced to react when he sees this problem is not going to fade way.

The cleverly conceived plot of A Disagreement in Idaho casts a long shadow across America, down into Mexico, into the Caribbean and then on toward Afghanistan, where the country continues to fight a war. Glenn's adventure provides a classic look at federal versus states' rights and - in these days of Arizona's new immigration laws -- a pertinent warning about executive orders and martial law.

Appropriately enough, Glenn dedicates his novel to the American worker "who hammers the nails, cuts the wood, pours the concrete, lays the tile, paints the walls, whose very livelihood is being threatened by this unabated invasion of illegal immigration."

AND ONE LAST THING...

Lacey Terwilliger probably never would have known her husband was having an affair with his receptionist, if it hadn’t been for Cherry Glick delivering Lacey a bouquet of flowers with a signed card that says “To my Bumblebee, Happy Anniversary, with all my love, The Stinger. Lacey decided the best way to get even was to send a slanderous email to every one in Lacey’s email address book about her cheating husband, Mike. Unfortunately for Lacey, she forgot to remove Mike’s parents, Lacey’s parents and her pastor from the email before she sent it. Now everyone is putting in their two cents. Lacey needs to get away from it all for a while. She heads to her family’s cabin. Lacey quickly realizes that she is not alone.

Monroe is renting the next door cabin. Monroe never expected his first meeting with Lacey to be a disaster. Soon, Monroe and Lacey become fast friends and maybe a little more then friends. Will Lacey give love a second chance?

And One Last Thing…by Molly Harper is a fun, light-hearted, summer, chick-lit novel. Molly Harper is the author of the Nice Girls Don’t series. And One Last Thing is Mrs. Harper’s first book that is not part of her Nice Girls Don’t series. I truly enjoyed this book. Right from the get go, I was laughing. Lacey won my heart with her take no prisoners’ attitude. If I has been as scorned as she was, I might have done the same thing. Lacey and Morgan’s on again, off again friendship/relationship was very entertaining, especially Lacey and Morgan’s first meet and greet. Morgan got more then an eye full of Lacey, he even copped a feel. Some other people I found funny were Lacey’s brother, Emmett and his friends. They told Lacey how it was and held nothing back. If you like Molly Harper, then you are going to love her new look with And One Last Thing. There is one last thing…make sure you pick up a copy of this book today.

Hand of Fate

Jim Fate is the name and face of his radio show, “The Hand of Fate”. Jim’s favorite past time is attacking the government and reading his threat mail on his radio show. He picks out the best ones and reads them on the air in what he likes to call his “Nut of the Day”. It seems that Jim might have taken things a bit too far this time. A package arrives and inside it is a canister of poisonous gas and Jim quickly dies.

FBI Special Agent, Nicole Hedges; Crime reporter, Cassidy Shaw and Federal Prosecutor, Allison Pierce are quick to learn the news and are right on the case. Though, Nicole is a bit distracted seeing as she is pregnant. Cassidy has an extra interest in Jim’s murder. She is not just interested because of a story but because she and Jim were close…really close. You can bet though that with the Triple Threat Club on the case that Jim’s murder will be solved.

Hand of Fate is the second Triple Threat novel by co-authors, Lis Wiehl and April Henry. I have to admit that I had my reservations about this book. I read the first book, Face of Betrayal and wasn’t in love with it. I liked about three quarters of the prior novel and then felt like the ending was a cop out, so I was expecting the same thing from this book. Happily, I can report that sometimes the second time around is better then the first.

Nicole, Cassidy and Allison make an excellent team. Each woman brings something different to the table. What Nicole went through in this story really drew me to her and made her seem more human to me. The beginning, middle and ending were all strong. Hand of Fate is fated to be a winner!

Scent of the Missing: Love and Partnership with a Search-and-Rescue Dog

I am not that familiar with the search and rescue aspect involving dogs, so it was nice to get to learn about this field. Scent of the Missing: Love and Partnership with a Search and Rescue Dog really made me appreciate the devotion and dedication that the men, women and dogs spend day after day searching for people. The word “quit” is not in their vocabulary.

I could relate to Susannah and Puzzle’s strong bond. I raised a guide dog for the blind and we got close. His name was Patriot and we relayed on each other. What I found interesting is that for both search and rescue and guides dogs for the blind that the dogs used were the same types of breeds. The main dogs for guide dogs for the blind are Labradors, Golden Retrievers and Germen Shepard, which were all the same types of dogs featured in this book.

While I enjoyed reading this book and learning what type of training Puzzle had to go through, I would have liked to get to have seen Puzzle in action more. Plus, I would have liked to have gotten to know some of the other dogs better. Overall though, Scent of the Missing: Love and Partnership with a Search and Rescue Dog receives an “Atta Boy” and three paws from me.

I know I am, but what are you?

To be honest I had never heard of Samantha Bee or knew that she was the Senior Correspondent for Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show. I just wanted to try out this book because I thought it sounded really good as far as memoirs go. I know I am, but what are you? is a quick, cynical, interesting look into the life Samantha Bee had growing up.

I have to say that some of the funniest moments had to be when Samantha’s father and stepmother had “The Talk” with Sam. Her step mother tried to delicately approach the topic, while her father just tells it like it is in today’s world. Another favorite moment was when Samantha worked for a very brief time as an intake technician at a penis clinic. Though, my most favorite moment had to be when Samantha shared an intimate and never to be repeated bonding with her cat Newton. All I am going to say is that it is an even battle when a male cat has claimed you as his sex slave. No topic is off limits in this book. While I liked this book, I was hoping to laugh more then I did. Overall, I know I am, but what are you? is good for some giggles.

Who knew that being healthy was to die for!

Detective Merryll Manning is in need of a mini vacation. When he sees Sister Susan ad saying “Take a refresher course in Sunny Australia: The Happy Valley Health Way is the Natural Way”, Manning decides to book a trip.

Sister Susan runs a health clinic. Merryll is joined by David Grey, a text book publisher, Erasmus J. Hopkins, astrologer, Lester Jurd, retired ship captain, Russell Payne, retired firm exhibitor, and Seldon “Zapata” Taylor, firm critic to name a few.

It seems that even when Merryll wants some rest and relaxation that it is hard to get any when dead bodies pile up around him. Russell Payne has been found murdered. Merryll must find the killer before it is too late. It won’t be easy as everyone is a suspect.

The Health Farm Murders is the second Merryll Manning mystery novel. I read the first book, Trapped on Mystery Island and enjoyed it. What I like the most about these books is all the kooky and colorful characters. You can’t really take the characters seriously. It was funny to see the other characters try to tell Manning how to do his job. It was like he was surrounded by a bunch of junior detectives. There were many twists and turns in the story line to keep a mystery fan like me guessing until the very end. Who knew that being healthy was to die for!

The Messenger of Athens

Irini Asimakopoulos’s body has been found at the bottom of a cliff. She has been dead for two days. The local police of chief chalks Irini’s death up to a suicide.

Hermes Diaktoros has been displaced from the city of Athens to investigative the murder of Irini. When Hermes arrives he finds he is not welcome. The police think Hermes will come to the same conclusion as they did…suicide. Hermes can feel that Irini’s death was not a suicide but a murder. He aims to uncover the truth. No matter what steps he has to take to get to the bottom of the truth.

This book was like reading the mystery board game version of Clue. It was like it had to be the husband because he is the most obvious choice. Then Hermes would come along and disprove the notion and he would explain why. The thing I found unusual and funny was that Hermes was known in the book as “the fat man”. Hermes was over weight but I found it funny that he was called that. The story would switch at times like it was being narrated and this is what the narrator called Hermes, so as not to confuse him with some other character. While I liked this book on the one hand for Hermes and the way he solved the case; the other hand I found most of the characters boring and at times the story line dry and slow moving. Though, I am willing to give Anne Zouroudi another try in the near future.

Let me shout...Hell Yeah!

Cathy O’Dell is the new owner of the Honky Tonk bar. She brought it from her cousin, Daisy from I Love This Bar. Cathy loves being the owner of the Honky Tonk. She meets some interesting people.

Travis Henry is in town temporary for a few months. He is helping out working at the oil rig site. Travis kicks the New Year off with a bang, when he kisses Cathy. Travis thinking that Cathy was just a waitress at the bar, gets a big surprise when he discovers that Cathy is the owner.

At first Cathy wants no part of Travis. Travis can’t stop thinking about Cathy and the kiss they shared. Will Cathy find her happy ending or heart ache?

Hell Yeah is the latest honky tonk novel from author, Carolyn Brown. The best thing about these books are the sexy cowboys. I like Cathy. I found her to be spunky like Daisy. I was not expecting this as Cathy seemed a little on the quiet side in I Love This Bar. I won’t mind a tall, dark stranger kissing me if he looked like Travis. Travis is the type of guy that would make all your girl friends jealous. Travis and Cathy shared a good connection. Though I thought the attraction between them was a little slow to get started. I liked this book but found it some of the sparkle from the previous book was missing in this one. Carolyn Brown does for the book world…what wrangler jeans does for cowboys…they are both a perfect fit!

Cheryl Brooks is my Hero

The Cat Star Chronicles series is based around the galaxy of Zetith and the good looking cat like men that come from this galaxy. A long time ago the galaxy of Zetith was destroyed and the feline men were sold off as slaves.

Hero is Tragonathon “Trag” Vladatonsk’s story. Trag was in Rogue, the third book. Trag is lonely and wants to settle down. Though, Trag won’t settle for anyone less then a fellow female Zetithian. A female Zetithian is rare. Trag is willing to wait.

Micayla Johnson works on Orleon Station. She is the last Zetithian female. Micayla is spotted by Rutger Grekkor, head of the Commerce Consortium. Rutger despises the Zetithian males. Micayla over hears Rutger gloating about destroying Zetith. When Rutger spots Micayla he aims to take her. Micayla runs and ends up on a space craft with Trag. Trag’s first meeting with Micayla is not lover at first sight. Will the second time around be the charm?

Hero is the sixth book in the Cat Star Chronicles series. I have lapped up every single one of these books. It was great to see Trag again and to get to know him better. Trag is a brooder. Though, I could forgive him, as he is too good looking for his own good. Micayla made me laugh. They way she first reacted to Trag was funny. Every time she got near him, she would hiss or want to bite him. I like that Micayla opened up fairly quickly and became likeable. Trag and Micayla make a good match. If you love sci-fi, romantic paranormal fantasy mixed with a little erotica then you will love these books. Cheryl Brooks is my Hero. I can’t wait to get my hands on book seven, Virgin.

The police had a lead for the double murder at the gas station on Melor Avenue that night. But why was Thomas, the store clerk, still missing?

After the shooting, Thomas, motionless on the floor, felt the warmth of his blood as it poured out from the wound on his neck. What was that unholy creature with the long black silky hair, he wondered, that had seemed to float into the station just as the shooting had ended?

Before that night Thomas had been living the life of a lazy man, afraid of failure. His disheveled two bedroom apartment and the filthy gas station he worked at from midnight to morning were close reflections of the depraved inner world he inhabited. All of that was about to change. Thomas was about to find a purpose. He was about to find himself. Wandering the city, searching for answers, he was about to find his God.

Sins of the Heart

When Roxy Tam was just nineteen she found herself trusting the wrong people and it almost cost her, her life. It wasn’t Roxy’s day to die. She vowed never to do that again and make sure what happened to her does not happen to someone else. Roxy fights for humans. She is not afraid of anyone.

Dagan Krayl is half human, half god. Dagan also has a reputation of being the best Underworld soul reaper. Or course, you won’t expect anything less from the Underworld God’s son. One of Dagan’s brother’s is murdered. It is nearly impossible to kill a soul reaper. Dagan goes on a rampage to find the person responsible. Dagan teams up with Roxy. This is when the passion ignites.

Sins of the Heart is book one in the Otherkin trilogy. Both Roxy and Dagan are equally matched. They work well together. Roxy is tough and can kick some butt. You want to hate Dagan for who he is but you can’t because he is too good looking. The intensity between Roxy and Dagan is almost too hot for words. This book is darker and more gruesome then some of the usual urban fantasy novels. I really liked this. Though, if you are weak in the belly there are a few scenes that may make you have an upset tummy. If you are tried of boring, old vampires then you should check out Sins of the Heart.

MASKED

Masked is more of an inside look into what makes a superhero in their truest form. So if you are looking for lots of action and adventure then you may be a little disappointed. I mean there was some fighting going on but I was expecting this anthology to be like the comics and television series I grew up with. Though, I have to say that I did really like some of the stories featured like: Where Their Worm Dieth Not (kind of like the stories I was used to reading. Also it reminded me some of the Twilight Zone), Secret Identity, Avatar and Call Her Savage.

I am not saying that some of the other stories weren’t bad but this is one time where I felt that the stories were too short. They were just start getting going and then the story would end. The more human aspect of the superheroes was nice to see where these characters come from and who they are. Though, I was introduced me to a bunch of new writers. Overall, Masked didn’t reveal itself to me, in order to fully enjoy this anthology.

CAPTURED BY MOONLIGHT

New Orleans best cop, Charlotte “Cee Cee” Caissie has just returned from visiting her family. Cee Cee is ready for some rest and relaxation. Luckily for her, she has the next best thing…her sexy lover, Max. Max is a shape shifter. So you could say he has a wild side to him

Someone is chasing Max. Whoever it is has Max wanting to let loose and let his other side take over. This is all fine except that Max could turn on Cee Cee at a moments notice. Cee Cee loves Max but she is still trying to adjust to his shape shifter side. Max has been there for Cee Cee all the time. Now it is Cee Cee’s turn to repay the favor. Can Cee Cee help Max before it is too late?

Captured by Moonlight is the third book in the Moonlight series. I really like this series. Cee Cee and Max make an excellent team. Not to mention that they just sizzle together. New Orleans is not just the only thing heating up the nights. There was so much action taking place in this book that I just flew through it. My only criticism I had and it was minor is that I felt this book was a little slow to get started. This only went on for about the first chapter. Nancy Gideon will have you looking at shape shifters in a whole new light. Captured by Moonlight will capture a place in both your heart and book shelf!

MANIFEST: A Mystyx Novel
by Artist Arthur

Chapter One:
"I can't hear you. I can't hear you," I repeat, talking to myself. Maybe if I keep saying it the voice will go away. I know people driving by me probably think I'm a lunatic.

My feet are moving so fast I barely feel them touch the ground. Cool air slaps my face like it's trying to remind me that I'm outside. It's almost spring according to the calendar, but it still feels like the dead of winter in Lincoln. Probably because we're so close to the water.

Whatever. I'm cold and I think it's beginning to rain. But I don't care. I just want to get home, inside the house, to the safety of my room. It won't follow me there.
I can't believe it followed me here. I ignored it in New York. You'd think it would have the good sense to stay in the city where there's a little excitement. Why follow me here to the ends of the earth where everyone acts like they're sleepwalking most of the time?

Panama City, FL - July 20, 2010 - Morgan James Publishers is delighted to report that its first printing of Miss Hildreth Wore Brown-Anecdotes of a Southern Belle by Panama City, Florida, author Olivia deBelle Byrd, sold out in less than two months and is now on the best seller's lists.

Byrd, a self-described Southern Belle, said the collection of humorous essays that deal with everything from parties where society ladies wear Christmas trees with blinking lights hanging from their ears, to stories about Sunday church, where a mink coat is mistaken for a possum, all come from personal experiences. "After I was telling one of my many stories for the umpteenth time, my long-suffering husband looked at me with glazed over eyes and said, 'Why don't you just write this stuff down?' So I did."

With comparisons to Fannie Flagg, Olivia deBelle Byrd offers up storytelling written in the finest Southern tradition. With wit and amusement, Byrd delves into the world of the Deep South with all its unique idiosyncrasies and colloquialisms.

Essays in the collection include characters who dance across the page from Great-Aunt Lottie Mae, who is as "old-fashioned and opinionated as the day is long," to Mrs. Brewton who calls everyone "dahling" whether they are darling or not, to Isabella with her passion for mint juleps and drama, both in equal measure.

As Byrd criss-crosses the South on a book tour, she says she's tickled that people are connecting with the stories. "I grew up with one of those double Southern names that kids just can't wait to make fun of," Byrd says. "Mine was deBelle. So I guess humor was the way I learned to deflect it. Besides, everybody needs a good laugh." For Olivia deBelle Byrd, the laughter is paying off. Miss Hildreth Wore Brown - Anecdotes of a Southern Belle is now on the best-seller's list with "deBelle" showcased right on the cover.

The Chill of Night

Detective Michael McCabe receives a phone call to come down to the pier. A woman’s body has been found in the trunk of an abandoned car. The woman is attorney Lainie Goff. Detective McCabe knows the first several hours are critical in a murder case. That is why McCabe jumps into his investigation right away.

McCabe comes upon one witness but there is just one problem…she is considered crazy. Her name is Abby Quinn. As McCabe digs into who Lainie was, he enters a dark world. Also can he figure out what is real versus fake with Abby?

The Chill of Night is the second novel by Mr. Hayman. The Cutting was his first. I have to admit that I liked The Chill of Night a little better. This is because I got to know Detective McCabe better and really liked him. He wasn’t just a character. He was also a human, who experienced things just like the rest of us like…dealing with his ex-wife and finding more time to spend with his daughter. I like that McCabe’s never quit attitude and dedication to his job. The only criticism I had with this book was that I wanted to killer to be a bit more prominent in this story. I wanted to get to know the killer, so that I could fully understand who McCabe was up against. The Chill of Night will give you chills.

Shoulder Bags and Shootings

My Review:

Haley Randolph has just returned form a fabulous trip to Europe with her boyfriend, Ty’s grandma. Haley picked up a bunch of new, fashionable items. The only thing missing is…the Sinful bag. It is the seasons must have item. Haley needs to get her hands on one. Ty’s grandma has Haley drop her off and drive herself home in her car. She tells Haley, she can return in the next day.

Haley’s day quickly goes down hill. First she finds the body of her arch rival, Tiffany Markham in her boyfriend’s grandmother’s truck of the car and second Haley can’t find a Sinful bag anywhere. Oh what is a girlfriend to do?

Shoulder Bags and Shootings is the third Haley Randolph mystery. This book just happens to be the first novel I have read by Dorothy Howell. After reading this book, I plan to go back and read the first two books. Haley was so hilarious. This book made me laugh and kept a smile on my face. I love that no matter that she was the prime suspect in a murder investigation, her one top priority was getting her hands on a Sinful bag. Haley is definitely dedicated. Shoulder Bags and Shootings is a great cozy mystery novel. Pick up a copy of this book today. You won’t be sorry you did.

Great Places to Score a Discount Designer Handbag By Dorothy Howell, Author of Shoulder Bags and Shootings: A Haley Randolph Mystery

You don't have to dress less-than-glam during these hard economic times -- not when shopping centers and Internet sites are flush with places to snag a genuine designer handbag at a deeply discounted price.

Stores selling discounted handbags range from small, intimate vintage and consignment shops to large department stores, and even larger outlet malls. Internet sites offer a wide range of styles, colors, and designer names.

The Premium Outlets and the Tanger Outlets far and away have the largest concentration of discounted designer merchandise. Along with handbag stores such as Coach, Judith Leiber, Kate Spade and Dooney & Bourke, you'll find a fantastic array of designer stores. Michael Kors, Liz Clairborne, Prada, DKNY, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Burberry, along with many others, carry everything from clothing to shoes, and a sampling of their handbag lines.

The Premium Outlets have over 40 locations nationwide, along with malls in Puerto Rico, Japan, Korea, and Mexico. Tanger Outlet has over 30 locations in the U.S. Both offer AAA and AARP member discounts. Join their VIP Club and visit their Web sites for coupons and special offers. Check out their seasonal sales weekends and national promotions for extra savings in addition to everyday discounts.

First, and in some cases, second quality merchandise is available. You'll have to bring along a magnifying glass to find flaws, though. Most are detectable only to the factory-trained eye.

These outlet stores are great places to shop. There's no digging through clearance bins or blowing the dust off of merchandise that's been sitting around for months. The stores are immaculate, the shelves are orderly and well stocked. The staffs are knowledgeable and helpful, the same as you'll find in their retail stores. Many times, after making your selection, the clerk can bring you a "fresh" bag from the stock room. Care is taken to wrap your treasure in the store's signature tissue paper, and deposit it into their trademark shopping bag.

Discounts typically run 20% to 40% off the MSRP, with deeper cuts of up to 65% off of sale and clearance items. Many of these stores offer a full guarantee on their products, plus a money back return policy. But, as with any store, ask before you buy. Keep in mind that these outlet malls are huge, so wear comfortable shoes and plan for a full day of shopping.

Great bargains can be found in retail giants such as Macy's and Dillard's Department Stores. These discounts are usually offered seasonally so you'll have to watch for them. The selection of these bags will be limited, but you can expect to pay from 20% to 30% off their retail prices.

Leading discount department stores such as Ross Dress For Less, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls offer designer handbags. The selection varies. You might find a Diane von Furstenberg, Betsy Johnson or a Fossil bag mixed in with their non-designer bags. Merchandise varies from location to location. These are no-frills stores. If you don't mind digging for a good deal, you can expect to save 20% to 60% off of department store prices.

Some of the most sought-after designer brands are offered at Websites such as Rue LaLa and Gilt Group. These sites offer members-only pricing on luxury brands, usually for a limited time. Shop early. Expect to pay sales prices of up to 70% off retail.

The website e-bay, along with many other online sites, offers designer handbags at considerable savings. The selection is wide and varied. New as well as used purses are available. You'll have to pay shipping costs, in most cases, so take that into consideration when looking at their prices.

Consignment stores and vintage shops are also good places to find a handbag at a low price. Keep in mind these purses are gently used. Designer names and selection will vary widely. Inventory fluctuates so it's good to check back often. Savings can be considerable.

No matter where you choose to shop for your designer handbag, it's important that you can distinguish a genuine bag from a knock-off. Read product descriptions carefully. Do your homework. Know the tell-tale signs of a counterfeit bag. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

There's no need to deny yourself the joy of sporting a designer handbag when so many places offer great merchandise and outstanding discounts to the everyday fashionista. Get out and see what's available. Shopping for your new bag is half the fun!

Lumby on the Air

Mark and Pam Walker are celebrating their twenty-fifth anniversary. They have invited their whole families. First Mark’s sister, Lynn and her prized cat, Coco arrive. This comes as a huge surprise as Lynn’s ex-husband embezzled money from Mark. Next comes Pam’s mother and…boyfriend! Then comes Mark’s sister, Nancy with her husband, Carter and son, Corey. Finally, Mark’s older brother Patrick, his wife, Elaine and their daughter Jessica arrive. The town of Lumby will never be the same again.

Lumby on the Air is the fifth novel in the Lumby series. It can be read as a stand alone novel. This book had all my favorite people as well as new characters. This book didn’t really focus on the town of Lumby, so much as it did Mark and Pam’s crazy family. I thought my family was a little crazy but after meeting Mark’s, I realized I would rather choose my family over his. Some of my favorite moments involved Coco. Coco may be a prized, exotic cat but she is a country girl at heart. There was the time when Coco was assaulted and chosen as a raccoon’s love slave or the moment when Coco made a friend with Old Jesse, the bull. Of course, I can’t forget The Lumby Line newspaper. Always good for a few laughs. All the arguing in this story did get on my nerves some. This book missed a bit of the sparkle of the Lumby Lines, the first book I tried and read in this series but I still can’t get enough of Mark, Pam and the rest of the town of Lumby. I plan to check out the next lumby novel. Lumby on the Air has made a permanent landing on my bookshelf.

Touching the Clouds

Kate Evans feels like she needs a major change in her life. She called off her wedding and is moving to Alaska to become a bush pilot. When Kate arrives, she starts having second thoughts. Kate quickly adjusts to life in Alaska and makes some friends.

Paul Anderson lives alone in the Alaskan wilderness. It has been a while since Paul has had any romantic feelings for a woman. So it surprises him when Paul goes into to shop for supplies and meets Kate. Kate and Paul set up a date to go up in Kate’s plane in the spring.

Touch the Clouds is book one in the Alaskan Skies series. It also is the first book I have read by author, Bonnie Leon. I really got into this book. It was like I was there with Kate. This book was so enjoyable to read not only for the great characters and storyline but because I love everything about aviation. So this book was right up my alley. I have to give credit to the women and men who fly as bush pilots. It is dangerous enough flying but I can’t imagine flying in the Alaskan wilderness every day. My only criticism I ha with this book was that for about the first half of the story, Paul and Kate were suppose to have this romance but they never crossed paths except for the first time. Touch the Clouds will have you soaring for more!

Chat with author, Tana French

Faithful Place
Back in 1985, Frank Mackey was nineteen, growing up poor in Dublin's inner city and living crammed into a small flat with his family on Faithful Place. But he had his sights set on a lot more. He and his girl Rosie Daly were all set to run away to London together, get married, get good jobs, break away from factory work and poverty and their old lives.

But on the winter night when they were supposed to leave, Rosie didn't show. Frank took it for granted that she'd dumped him - probably because of his alcoholic father, nutcase mother, and generally dysfunctional family. He never went home again.

Neither did Rosie. Everyone thought she had gone to England on her own and was over there living a shiny new life. Then, twenty-two years later, Rosie's suitcase shows up behind a fireplace in a derelict house on Faithful Place, and Frank is going home whether he likes it or not.

Getting sucked in is a lot easier than getting out again. Frank finds himself straight back in the dark tangle of relationships he left behind. The cops working the case want him out of the way, in case loyalty to his family and community makes him a liability. Faithful Place wants him out because he's a detective now, and the Place has never liked cops. Frank just wants to find out what happened to Rosie Daly├ó€”and he's willing to do whatever it takes, to himself or anyone else, to get the job done.

Penguin Books invites you and your readers to join the celebrated mystery author, Tana French, for a chat at the Penguin Water Cooler on Tuesday, July 20th at 1:30 PM ET, hosted here on the Penguin USA website!

Silver Serenade

Silver Malloy works for Earth Centrum Security Integrated Network. Her latest mission involving taking down Tyrone Bluth. Tyrone is the leader of Tyrone’s Marauders. The toughest bandit crew around. Silver almost had Tyrone when she came face to face with another opponent. His name is Jace Vernon.

Jace is also tracking Tyrone but for a different reason. Jace doesn’t really want or planned to team up with Silver but in order to achieve his goal, Jace must work with Silver. Who will win…Silver or Jace?

Silver Serenade by Nancy Cohen is a fun, entertaining, out of this world read! I really liked this book. It was a nice change from Mrs. Cohen’s mystery novels. Though Silver Serenade has all the same great elements that I have come to expect from Mrs. Cohen’s books…great characters, a strong storyline and the need to want to read more. Silver can kick some serious butt. I like that she had a take charge attitude and could hold her own with Jace. Speaking of Jace…can anyone say H-O-T! Jace and Silver were good together. I would recommend Silver Serenade to anyone.

WHY DO I WRITE ABOUT TEENS by LM Preston

LM Preston is the author of the book The Pack. I read and reviewed this book and really enjoyed it. You can read my review here.

WHY DO I WRITE ABOUT TEENS

Being a teenager that had all of the odds stacked against her from the start, I am a true, real life survivor who pulled from within herself to be a leader. Then later, through writing, I became a super-hero and so much more. Here's a fun biographical story about a turning point in my life when I realized that even though I was a kid, I had stregnth and the power to change my destiny, even though sometimes it hurt.

MY MOST EMBARRASSING PRE-TEEN MOMENT

When I sit down to write my novels from a teenaged perspective, I have a lot of material to pull from. I was called all sorts of names, teased, and jeered at. I wasn’t the lowest on the totem pole, but I was somewhere near the bottom middle of the middle school pecking order. Yet, through these experiences I learned something about myself. I was a survivor and I was never a follower.

THE LEADING MOMENT

The kids in my neighborhood would spend tons of time making up games. One we played was truth or dare. Usually, I wasn’t invited to play because I was the youngest kid in the neighborhood. However, this particular time, they allowed me to play seemed like the best day of my life. I was going to play with the big kids, and no longer follow behind them. That day, nitaworm (my nickname) had arrived.

THE SET UP

The game went on as usual. Dare’s were made, secrets were told and the bottle spin. Finally, it was my turn. My moment, my acceptance, and then it came. The kid that had made the last spin, looked at me with a sneaky grin, and I knew immediately that I was doomed.

THE DARE

“I dare you to eat this beetle!” the kid said. He held a skirmy, squishy, huge beetle and from experience I knew he would hold me down and force it into my mouth if I let him. I gulped. Then I compared the penalty for not going through with a challenge. The penalty was to let every kid spit in your face. The decision was difficult, the choices were both gross. However, I refused to be made to eat something that I didn’t want.

STANDING UP TO MY SO-CALLED FRIENDS

At that moment of recognition, I felt strong and fierce. Ok, no really I was scared to death. However, I stood and said , “I renege on the dare!”. There were gasp, snickers, and whispers. I held my ground, stuck out my chest and licked my lips. “You know what that means don’t ya?” the kid with the fat beetle snickered.

“Yeah, and I don’t care!” I said, and swallowed as a tear ran from my eye. Man I was so angry. The other kids bustle to stand in line in front of me. Never before in our game of Truth or Dare had someone challenged their fate. I was the first, and they relished in the chance to demean me further.

There I stood, as each kid gathered as much saliva in their mouths as possible and spit in my face. My eyes closed as I felt the thick, cool, wet globs slid from my forehead, down my nose to my lips. I held back a gag.

Finally, it was over. My best-friend, who was last in line did a fake spitting sound that held little or no power. Then she took out a tissue and wiped my face. “Why didn’t you just do the dare? “

I opened my eyes and smiled at her then said, “Cause I didn’t want to.”

That was the deciding moment for me. When I realized that no one could change the inner fire within me - no matter what I had to endure, I would survive and become stronger. I did it - and you can too!

Palm City, FL - July 8, 2010 - Today the President of Florida Association of Forensic Professionals endorsed Shadow Cay. Chere Reynolds, Criminalist II, MDPD and the President of Florida Association of Forensic Professionals said, "Leona Bodie is a masterful storyteller, and I highly recommend her new thriller, Shadow Cay.

The MDPD Crime Lab was inspiration for some parts of her first novel. This book speaks to the challenges forensic professionals face every day especially in Dade County.

Shadow Cay is a steamy suspense about murder, drug cartel and local corruption taking place in the tropics between Miami and the Bahamas."

The author says, "It's very loosely based on an event from my own past, and it's a book I have been trying to write for more fifteen years. It also helps being married to a forensic specialist."

In Shadow Cay, when industry icons sell their souls, ethical employees become huge liabilities. Palm-fringed Miami with its gateway to Latin America offers two men in different businesses, two unlikely paths to fame and fortune. JaHart International, a much-admired biotechnology company, creates state-of-the art medical solutions. The Salazar Network is the world's most profitable enterprise. These two powerhouses are about to join forces. Their story starts in an island paradise far from corporate America, when Bahamian officials discover a string of offshore tragedies. They presume the victims were lost at sea. One "casualty," Madeleine Nesbitt survives. She plots Rico Salazar's ruination, but no one's ever crossed Rico or his friends and lived to talk about it.

Here's what other people are saying: "Shadow Cay is filled with dark secrets and gripping suspense. Leona Bodie clearly has intimate knowledge of the Bahamas and the profession of forensic science that encompasses more than the cops, fingerprints, and DNA analyses found in most whodunits. Every successful thriller needs both good villains and protagonists, and Bodie's suspenseful novel is a treat to read because of the way the author goes about delineating her characters. Leona Bodie is a fresh new talent in the much-plowed field of mystery books with something interesting and original to say.

Shadow Cay is a 'can't put down' reading experience." -Malcolm D. Mahr, Author of The Secret Diary of Marco Polo and Murder at Paradise Spa.

"It's definitely a winner! Movie material? ABSOLUTELY." -Linda Quarles, Ocala FL.

"Twists and turns, combined with intrigue make this novel hard to put down." -Diane O.

DesRochers, Author of A Matter of Time and Sunflower.

The Bikini Car Wash

Andrea “Andi” Wolkowicz left the big city and her corporate job for the simple life in Plainview to care for her sister, Angela “Jelly” and her father. Andi knows she needs to get a job to help support her family.

Pete Guthie is the owner of Guthie Foods, local supermarket. When Pete first comes in contact with Andi, things don’t go smoothly.

Andi comes up with the perfect idea to reopen her father’s old car wash business. This car wash will have a twist. Hence…Plainview Bikini Wash and Wax. Things are about to heat up or cool down in Plainview.

Pamela Morsi has just become one of my favorite new authors. The Bikini Car Wash is the second book I have read by this author. I couldn’t get enough of Andi, Jelly, Pete and the rest of the town folks of Plainview. Andi’s take no attitude was great. Jelly was so bubbly and full of joy. It was easy to see why everyone couldn’t resist Jelly. I am so glad Pete turned out to be a nice guy. The best part of this book was the reactions from the little old church ladies when Andi opened the bikini car wash. The Bikini Car Wash is the perfect summer read. If you haven’t tried Pamela Morsi then what are you waiting for?

Perfectly Dateless

Being in high school is tough but it is worse if you are Daisy Crispin. Daisy is a perfect student and never gets into trouble. Poor Daisy her parents won’t let her date. This makes things very complicated to get a date to prom, when prom is only 196 days away.

Daisy doesn’t care what her parents say she can or can’t do. All Daisy knows is that she can’t go off to college without a prom picture to show. It will be just embarrassing if she is the only girl in college who has never dated or had a prom date. Luckily for Daisy, her good friend Claire won’t let Daisy go to college without a prom picture.

Perfectly Dateless is a comical, light-hearted, fast read. Young adults will enjoy and relate to Daisy. Daisy is so likeable. The comments Daisy’s mom would make were so funny but I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Daisy and how embarrassed she must have felt. Like when Chase called for Daisy and her mother told Daisy it is not proper for a guy to be calling or when her mother “humping” in relation to the prom. I plan to check out Kristin Billerbeck other books.

Beth is a doctor. Her job is to treat and help heal people. Can Beth be strong when the tables are turned and the doctor becomes the patient?

I really enjoy reading Robyn Carr’s Virgin River series. Mrs. Carr’s latest novel, A Summer in Sonoma is its own novel. It was a nice change and pace from the Virgin River series. I met four new friends in Cassie, Julie, Marty and Beth. I had a blast hanging out with these four ladies. Readers will relate to them all. My favorite two characters were Julie and Cassie. Julie because she was human and I could really relate to the head aches of always paying bills and Cassie because she is a pure delight to be around. If you are looking for the perfect vacation spot then travel to A Summer in Sonoma.

Insatiable

Meena Harper works as a script writer for a soap opera television show called Insatiable. Besides writing scripts for Insatiable, Mia has the unique ability to look at someone and tell that they are going to die. Of course, some people don’t think of this as cool but see Mia as a freak.

Mia’s boss wants Mia to incorporate a vampire as a long interest into the story line. Mia would rather jump off a ten story building then have anything to do with vampires. She is not impressed with them. Her boss wants her to do this as their rival soap opera; Lust has become a smash hit, since they jumped on the vampire band wagon.

Lucien Antonescu is the leader of the vampires. When he learns that he may have a rogue vampire on his hands, he decides to travel to America to take care of the issue himself. As soon as Lucien meets Meena he wants her. Can he convince her that he is the one for her?

Insatiable is the second book I have read by Meg Cabot. The first was a spin off from her popular series from The Princess Diaries. I have to admit that I like this darker side of Mrs. Cabot a lot better. Mia was just as intriguing a Lucien was. She had lots of personality. Lucien was mysterious and everything a vampire leader should be…powerful and the ability to swept woman off their feet. This story wasn’t just a romance story; there was also action and adventure thrown in the mix. Insatiable is a book you can really sink your teeth/fangs into…again and again.

Can’t Teach an Old Demon New Tricks

Rachel Farnsworth has the perfect life. She is married to a good man, Kevin and they have a one year old son, Cassidy Henry. They live in the town of Dogwood. Or course living in Dogwood, nothing is normal or as it seems.

Kevin has skipped town. He has been found out and wanted to leave before the going got tough.

Samsapiel “Sam is a fallen angel. Sam has been sent to retrieve Kevin. When Sam first meets Rachel, he takes her for someone who is looking to better themselves by hooking up with a demon and having a child. Sam isn’t the only one after Kevin. Things are about to heat up really fast.

Can’t Teach an Old Demon New Tricks is the first book I have tried by this author. Can’t Teach an Old Demon New Tricks is part of the Dogwood series. It can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone novel. I have to admit that I liked this book so much that I plan to go back and try out some of Mrs. Lockwood’s other books. My favorite parts involved Cassidy. Forget the terrible twos; he already is at that stage. The trouble he would get into would have me laughing so hard. He definitely takes after his father. Rachel will have her hands full for a long time to come. If all fallen angels are like Sam then where can I get me one of my own? Can’t Teach an Old Demon New Tricks is hilarious and just what the devil ordered.

The Summer of Skinny Dipping

Sixteen year old, Mia Gordon and her family head to the Southampton’s for the summer. They are staying with Mia’s Aunt Kathleen, Uncle Rufus and their daughter Corinne.

Mia is hoping this is just the thing to get her mind off her break up with her boyfriend. At first Mia is taken back by how much things have changed. Mia remembers how close Corinne and her mother were and all the good times she and Corinne shared together. Now, Corinne and her mother argue all the time and Corinne and Mia travel in different circles. Corinne has become quite the rebel. Mia leaves left out.

While attending a party, Mia meets and strikes an instant friendship with a mysterious and intelligent boy named Simon Ross. Soon, Mia is taking late night skinny dipping swims with Simon and long talks on the beach about their future.

The Summer of Skinny Dipping is author, Amanda Howells debut novel. The Summer of Skinny Dipping is the perfect summer beach read. You don’t have to be just a young adult to enjoy this book; you just have to be young at heart. This book is a good coming of age story. It was nice to see Mia break out of her shell and grow. Simon is much maturer then his age. What I most liked about Mia and Simon is that they were real. They didn’t really care about getting in with the in crowd. It was just them and the ocean. Treat yourself and pick up a copy of this book today.

Farm Fatate

Matt Locke is a newspaper reporter. Though, he writes more of the gossip column news. Rosie is Matt’s girlfriend. Rosie is tried of the city and dreams of moving to the country. Matt is stuck in his ways and would rather die then move to the country. That all changes when Matt gets the opportunity to write his own column and become a free lance reporter. His first feature will be about life in the country. Rosie could not be happier.

Samantha Villers is an actress. Lately, her career has become almost non-existent. With her husband, Guy’s failing health and failing career, Samantha needs to do something soon to jump start her on the fast path again. Samantha comes up with the idea to move to the country. There she hopes to find some inspiration. Things are about to get wild in Eight Mile Bottom.

Farm Fatale reminded me of the Chevy Chase movie, Funny Farm. Though, I thought this book could have been a bit funnier. There were some laughs to be had. Don’t get me wrong as I liked this book but just wasn’t in love with it. I liked Rosie a lot but besides her, there weren’t a lot of the main characters I could get into. Rosie had a heart of gold. Samantha seemed a little too much into herself, which I didn’t care for. I thought the postman was a hoot. He was so noisy but didn’t care. I may try Wendy Holden again in the future.

The Wild Irish Sea

Amber O’Neil shares a connection with her brother. They can telepathically communicate with each other. When Amber hears Parker’s call for help, she rushes to the shores of Ireland. Amber enlists the help of Kevin Hennessy.

At first Kevin wants nothing to do with Amber and her wild goose chase for her brother. Though, Kevin can’t deny the attraction he feels with Amber and agrees to help. Amber and Kevin just may be in over their heads.

The first time I had read anything by Loucinda McGary was with her first novel, The Wild Sight. I really enjoyed that book and wanted to read more books by Mrs. McGary. Mrs. McGary does not disappoint with her latest novel, The Wild Irish Sea. My dream is to some day visit Ireland. While reading this book it was like I was there. Amber and Kevin made a good couple together. I liked the legend that Mrs. McGary focused on in this book. I don’t want to give anything away, so all I will say is that you have to read the book to find out what I am talking about. The Wild Irish Sea is a breath of fresh air and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. There was also a little magic in this book.

The Fire Lord's Lover

Dominic Raikes is the elven son of Imperial Lord Mor’ded. Dominic is a great leader and possesses extraordinary magical talents. Lord Mor’ded has Dominic under his command.

Lady Cassandra Bridges is to be married to Dominic. Though, their marriage is not born out of love. Being married to the elven king’s son brings Cassandra that much closer to spying and keeping tabs on the king.

Will Cassandra’s rouse be discovered? Also, how will Cassandra react when the man she married is not the man she thought he was but someone better?

The Fire Lord’s Lover is book one in the Elven Lords series. Author, Kathryne Kennedy starts off this brand new series off with a bang! I really warmed up to Cassandra right away. Dominic was another story. This is only because Dominic maintained a hard exterior in the beginning. Once, Dominic thawed, he became a very interesting character. I can’t wait to continue this journey with Cassandra and Dominic. This book would make a great movie. The Fire Lord’s Lover is scorching hot. Be warned as you won’t want to put this book down until the last page. I already have the next book, The Lady of the Storm on my auto buy list.

No Werewolves Allowed

Nyx Ciar is half-human and half-Drow. She and her good friend, Olivia are in business together. They are private investigators for paranormal crimes.

Dmitri Karl Beketov leader of he werewolf pack needs Nyx’s help. Someone or something is attacking and killing the werewolves. Already six werewolves have been mutilated.

Nyx calls on some of the best trackers that includes Dopplers, Shifters, Were, and Fae. Nyx finds some extra help in the form of Detective Adam Boyd. Things between Adam and Nyx are about to get hotter but they better watch their backs as the killer is out for blood.

No Werewolves Allowed is book two in the Night Tracker series. I have not read book one but I didn’t affect me from enjoying this book. Though, I did like this book so much that I plan to go back and read book one.

Urban fans will really like this series. It is dark and edgy. Nyx and Adam sizzled together. I liked Nyx’s character as a Drow. It was refreshing to have one of the main characters something different other then vampires and werewolves. This book may be titled No Werewolves Allowed but they are allowed in my home and on my bookshelf. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into book three, Vampires Not Invited.

The Night She Got Lucky

Ginger Garrison is a single mother, thanks to finding her ex-husband in bed with another woman. Bride’s made dresses can be killer. Take it from Ginger, who knows first hand. Ginger went outside to get some fresh air when she fainted into the arms of a handsome man.

Lucio “Lucky” Montevez used to be a very famed photographer. He was the most requested photographer. He would travel all over the world taking pictures of unique wildlife. Due to an unfortunate incident, Lucky is now let shooting pictures for weddings.

Lucky offers to photograph Ginger and her dog. Could this be the start of a beautiful friendship or something more?

The Night She Got Lucky is a lucky day for readers. It is like scoring the jack pot. I really pleasantly enjoyed this book. I thought Ginger’s naiveness to Lucky’s charm and charisma was sweet and funny. Lucky and Ginger were gold together. The chemistry between them was smoking hot. There were so many laughs to be had in this book. Lucky can take my picture any day. He is so good looking. Susan Donovan has won me over with this book. I plan to keep reading her books.
